It's been ages since I had a scan around the GRN. I can't remember if it was mentioned here but site 003-029 at Mt Wandera west of Batemans Bay was lost in the bushfires 12 months ago (the entire broadcast site in fact, the heat even buckled the 300ft tower) and checking on it again now I can't believe that site is still running from a CoW!

It's still showing as site 003-097 with freqs as follows (not licenced on the ACMA site):

415.3875 CC
416.0875 BUCC
416.3375
416.5875
416.8375

I should be embarrassed to admit it but I can't remember how to get a 996XT to do a NAC search, I found the option in the menu and turned it on but it still won't display the NAC when the CC is direct entered, can someone refresh my memory?

Also it's interesting that TG 65536 shows as a permanent "call" on both the CoW site and the nearest neighbour (003-028), but no other sites. I wonder if a CoW is designed to slave off a nearby site somehow?

Welcome back again Andrew!

By chance, is it only Unitrunker that you are seeing TG 65536 active on? If so, then it's a "bug" of sorts...

Cheers,
Matt

Ah okay, thanks Matt!

I suspect that even if it's being displayed is a bug in UT, there must still be some kind of link happening between the two sites? It seems too much of a coincidence otherwise.

It's not that important anyway, I was more wondering if anyone else had seen the same behaviour?

Andrew

P.S. I'm sure I've done a NAC search with these scanners before, but buggered if I can make it work now!

Hi all, TG=65535 has been seen 7 times in the last 10 days but I have no RID= recorded against it here in the ACT.

Unitrunker indicates: ID number 65536 is used to indicate a BSI or base station identification event on a voice channel. It's not an actual call or group ID.

Hello Rusty thanks for the tip on BSI or Base Station Identification event on a voice channel. With my new computer setup and new RTL-SDR V3 dongle I got Unitrunker to work first go. Straight away I could see what you were talking about. To me Unitrunker is not real pretty to look at, so I downloaded sdrtrunk to see how it compared. Under Events and the Details column you can see a lot of network traffic information so I will see how they compare. Thanks again Rusty, you taught me something!
