I think you're right, there was another one a while ago down here, I think it was 004 126 from memory. Maybe a certain number range are CoWs?

I was recently in Tamworth and inadvertently monitoring 420.0375, which is the RFS tower at Manilla. I was hearing GRN traffic from NSW Ambulance Northern Control and Fire Rescue northern stations, a search of the control channels shows that being a voice channel attached to Brookvale, some five hours away.

Just wondering why that would be, has that frequency been reassigned to the Tamworth site?

Cheers

Getting back into the scanning after whats been a long time, and no longer living in Sydney, monitoring the voice channels of Site 56 - Kellys Plains (Armidale) for a while, SES was heard as well as Ambulance Western Control.

Mike,

Potentially, the Telco Authority are gradually turning on more sites in the north and north west of the state for the GRN/PSN. Mt Baldwin has 420.0375 currently assigned to the RFS. It also has 418.5375, 418.7875, 419.0375, 419.2875, 419.5375 and 419.7875 assigned to the GRN/PSN. Without knowing how far from the site your were and what setup you are using, could it have been 419.0375 you were actually receiving? If the RFS are no longer using PMR in that area, it is possible TA techs may have reused 420.0375...but many (not all) of the new sites have the 6 freqs. in the 41xMHz assignment.

Are you able to run DSDPlus or Unitrunker on the control channel to see what actual voice channels are used on the site?

New site active - Nth Coast
003-105 South Tweed (Kirkwood Road)
NAC 2D0, CC 419.6125 BUCC 419.1125
Peers, 003-147, 003-148, 003-149

NB sites 003-147, 148 and 149 running phase II transmissions (FR). Band plan running is:

There is an odd observation in the channels for each of these sites. 412.475 appears as a channel (when using unitrunker). If the channel is deleted, it automatically reappears after a second, delete and reappears again and so on. E.g.:

I was not able to get the USDS100 decoding FR phase II transmissions correctly, has anyone else had any difficulty rx'ing FR phase II on the 100?

I've had 003-105 listed as CC 419.6125 SCC 419.1125, but at My Hyland (ACMA 20036348) since 2021. That does seem to correlate with nearby sites (Coffs 003-104, etc). I haven't logged it myself however.

ACMA suggests the same frequencies are in use at South Tweed.

Have you got 003-105 linked off sites on the FNC?

Yes 105 does seem out of whack compared to the surrounding Nth Coast sites, but is definitely 105, I was close by on a 1/4 wave uhf.

It was peering to 147, 148 and 149 - and they were respectively showing 105 as a peer also.

I have not a clue what I am doing and am new to the world of SDR, but I've managed to get myself connected to the Kellys Plains tower 005-056 and have got Unitrunker working, very frustrated by a lack of knowledge to get DSD running, I will persevere.
