Sutherland Garbos this morning were sounding garbled around Nth Cronulla and the usual "repeat didn't hear your last"
It is not a big problem around Sutherland Council, just when the trucks venture into certain areas ... maybe 2-3% of the airtime
Not criticising the GRN P25 system ... just noting where the issues are.

I am getting TG 19933 off Bimmill 334 this afternoon.
Its just short half seconds bursts of data occasionally and on the longer transmits its just silent on my 996, possibly encrypted? not comming up ENC on the scanner though

Ah ok, can't remember getting that talkgroup before. The way it sounds I would say they are definatly using encryption.

All Talkgroups 199XX are encrypted
Radio Ids 291XXXX
It was just simply testing of base frequencies between the NOCC and the various sites being visited, signal appraisals, "i am going here next" etc .... nothing that exciting
We have been listening to them for years on analogue as well
I think the problem was some personal information was conveyed here (eg names etc) which folk thought was a private conversation

I heard private conversations all the time on 19xxx, as if they were on a mobile phone to each other, wonder if they had a handsfree kit hooked up to their radios. had one conversation (non-radio affiliated) go on for over an hour on the way home from work, off 2 separate sites. was nice test for digital, in 60km's it only broke up once when i went into a valley north of bargo but other then that was 90-95%

A number of the Hatzolah radios are now transmitting in the "emergency" mode which comes up as "E4" on Unitrunker for their talkgroup range (10381-10390)
They are not encrypted ... if they were "P4" would appear
On my 396 Uniden i am unable to follow the E4 conversation, probably due to its current settings
