The ACTION buses situation gets more interesting. Saw an XTL2500 or XTL5000 (O5/M5 headed radio of some sort) with the secure icon on and flashing KEY FAIL on 474 this morning...

They're probably planning to go secure, it was one of their channels, I didn't catch the full name but it had the word ACTION in it. I couldnt see AFP handing out their keys to anyone.

they have had a channel with the AFP in the past for security reasons. hey anything is possible it is the ACT after all and when ACT PCL has secure equipped radios and have used them you just wouldnt know.
as i said to a mate cant wait to see the TAMS brown bombers do a sting using encryption :)
cheers

Actually the brown bombers are about the only ones you can realiably hear in the clear! (Not counting SES and RFS because they're only on when training or when there's a job on.)

Given how cheap ADP is, i'd be suprised to not find everyone using it soon enough.

The ACTION stuff is probably "real" crypto, or at least running on a UCM. Software ADP keys get loaded via CPS, and are never dropped unless you deliberately zeroize the radio, so you'll normally never see KEY FAIL.

Hearing early this morning (like 4am) off Pennant Hills what appears to be a RFS PMR Bridge on Talkgroup 20023 (RFS-Northern Region-GD78) but no audio .... just lots a clicking noises every few minutes
