Re: NSW P25 GRN - Radio IDs
well thats interesting, as i had access to an ses radio yesterday trying to transmit on it and didn't get anything but it affiliated with the tower...
I suspect the tower rejected it as i was watching on pro96com the repeater it said it affiliated with, and came up with nothing

Unless a radio has been specifically given access to the P25 network, it will log on but not be able to transmit. I have had two of ours affiliated for testing purposes but the only access is to the GL (Government Liaison) talk groups.
Until each organisation is timetabled to switch over, limited access is being granted to certain individuals for testing purposes only.

well that makes sense, last thing you want is people hooking onto the new under-resourced system before its fully online with all available channels

Re: NSW P25 GRN - Radio IDs
Still, it's interesting in that the SES is supposed to have already migrated, I know all of the SES radios down the Far South Coast here are active on the P25 GRN so I would suggest that if your SES radio isn't activated by now it probably won't be unless someone specifically gets it done?

P.S. If you want to send me the radio I'm happy to have a look at it for ya... just to make sure? ...

Re: NSW P25 GRN - Radio IDs
aren't they using Advanced System Keys to preventing un-authorised reading?

The codeplugs are password protected yes, and the password is encrypted in any firmware version over about R12 I think... you would only need an ASK to modify a trunk system, you can still view everything without one... I could go on but this ain't Batlabs!citabria wrote:aren't they using Advanced System Keys to preventing un-authorised reading?
