Re: NSW P25 GRN - Radio IDs
Hearing some new traffic today, sounds like Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol in Batemans Bay "testing comms on this new unit", do they have GRN access now?
Talkgroup is 12531 with RIDs in the 2449xxx range.

I believe Marine Rescue have had GRN access for some time just have not really had a need to use it.
Re: NSW P25 GRN - Radio IDs

Don't get too excited, as mentioned by Glen, they have had it awhile and are testing it but their migration to the GRN is not a forgone conclusion.
If it is adopted it would be for inter-agency communications only.

Re: NSW P25 GRN - Radio IDs
By the sound of it they're all portables, based on what I'm seeing where different callsigns seem to share RIDs. Described by one guy as "our new green GRN radios".
Looks as if TG 12531 is the Far South Coast from Batemans Bay to Eden, although I've only heard as far south as Bermagui to date. All on Phase 1 TGs too, which is the only traffic I get on my old scanners nowadays.
Vessel callsigns seem to be a two-letter abbreviation of the town name, followed by a number. IE, the Bermagui callsigns are "BM20" & "BM30", but there's also "X-Ray" callsigns, which seem to be vehicles driving around (possibly the "higher-ups")?

Yes they've had that setup for a whilst. When they're not really running remote like RFS n co I don't see the point but one of my nearby vessels is FT20.Bigfella237 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 2:48 pmVessel callsigns seem to be a two-letter abbreviation of the town name, followed by a number. Re: NSW P25 GRN - Radio IDs
There must be at least six Talkgroups
My guess would be:
12526 - NSW Volunteer Marine Rescue 1
12527 - NSW Volunteer Marine Rescue 2
12528 - NSW Volunteer Marine Rescue 3
12529 - NSW Volunteer Marine Rescue 4
12530 - NSW Volunteer Marine Rescue 5
12531 - NSW Volunteer Marine Rescue 6
12526 has been appearing in the metro area irregularly since December 2022
Logged 6 radios so far on 12526 : 2449102, 2449109, 2449112, 2449117,2449125, 2449130.
Wasn't listening at the time so i have no information on callsigns
Was wondering what it was. Now we know
On Marinetraffic.com "BM20" is shown at Bateman's Bay - in fact you can get a lot of Marine Rescue callsign information from that website up and down the NSW coast. For what It is worth my opinion is the callsigns seem to match the Marine Rescue callsigns.
