well thats good to know richard, i'm guessing when i re-visit the grn for work again they might be forcing new agencies over onto the p25 system rather than the current one if coverage is acceptable...

Funny how you say that... I did have a chat with someone about that yesterday. I sense attitudes to networks like Hornsby RFS PMR are getting much tougher. I copped a very hard time yesterday for wanting to do something much much smaller than that. Time will tell.

thats correct they are from my sources becoming very hard to get money for that type of thing, and i mean hey if the grn suits an agencies operational needs they should have no reason to look elsewhere.

If on the other hand the grn doesn't suit the agencies needs then other alternatives need to be looked at and considered by the relevant dept whether it be treasury or gcio

It isn't the money they need to control, they also control spectrum licencing. No frequencies, no systems. ACMA require the consent of GCIO (or whatever they are now called...) before they will licence anything from a NSW government agency.

I had to convince them that the GRN didn't suit this particular requirement & they played very hard ball... and yes I did raise Hornsby RFS & told them to "BACK OFF!"... It does irritate me when there appears to be one rule for some...

Cheers,

Richard
