NSW Audit report on NSW PSN CCEP

Post by cartman » Sun Aug 06, 2023 11:19 am

I was googling for some information on the PSN hidden hosts and lo and behold this link pops up, dated June 2023.
I am sure that this will generate a lot of discussion.
Quite a bit to digest

More rhetoric than a political press release.

There's an awful lot of uninformed bullshit and pure opinion in that document...
The technology specification selected for the PSN is called Project 25 (or P25). P25 refers to a collection of standards (and other measures) for radio networks that evolved in the United States (US) in the late-1980s.
P25 standards weren't even ratified until 2001-2003. The worlds first digital radio product, the Motorola ASTRO Saber and ASTRO Spectra were announced in 1991 and released in 1994. The CAI which became P25 wasn't even a thing until 1996...
We estimate that the full cost to government, including costs to the ESOs, of implementing the enhanced network is likely to exceed $2 billion.
Yep, only an Australian Government could waste $2bn on an what is, essentially an outdated network.
