"The new public safety network will consolidate about 70 separate agency radio networks into one and is expected to be completed by December 2022."

I have an idea on what this new network can be called.

How about the Government Radio Network or GRN for short?

Is this just a rehash of a previous announcement or an acceleration of what was going to happen anyway?

I read it as a well timed rehash. All those sites mentioned were already on the upgrade list or part of the north coast project.

Capacity seems to be the issue at many sites. When smaller sites are (eventually) upgraded to TDMA those issues will hopefully be reduced.
