G'day Macca,

Your picture appears to be missing bandplan 09?

Bandplan 06 will be the Phase 2 equivalent to 04
Bandplan 07 will be the Phase 2 equivalent to 05
Bandplan 09 will be the Phase 2 equivalent to 08

When Phase 2 goes into use you may see each frequency appear under any one or all of three different LCNs, for example:

If 412.47500 is seen on a P1 talkgroup (or the CC) it would appear as LCN 04-0000
If 412.47500 is seen on a P2 talkgroup as Slot 1 on the base it would appear as LCN 06-0000
If 412.47500 is seen on a P2 talkgroup as Slot 2 on the base it would appear as LCN 06-0001

I was hoping that someone who had one might chime in, I have absolutely no idea myself.

Macca, the 325 should automatically determine the band plans from control channel data. There shouldn’t be a need to add any yourself.

Another thing to note, that means there is now 249 control channel frequencies in the Other Band Trunking Control Channel tabe - which can only hold a maximum of 128 entries on the ASTRO25 platform. Looks like an APX is now needed to fully utilise the new sites as well.

Citabria, where does that leave the users (such as NSW Ambulance) who went down the Tait path? Do the Phase 2 standards require increased control channels, and do the Tait’s comply?

Evening all,
The Taits that NSW ambulance have are TM and TP9400's which are phase 2 radios.

You'll find the control channel will run on the phase 1 bandplan (04-xxxx) which is the current band plan and the phase 2 radios will use band plan 6 for voice, certain users will have access to others like band plan 9.
cheers

Does that mean that only Moto APX users will have access to band 9, and the Tait TM/TP users will not? If so, it seems a shame that such a large network user won’t have access to the increased network capacity.

The increased number of control channels and Phase 2 rollout aren't related. The increased number of CC's is simply due to the expansion of the network, more sites in the same area means better coverage but also more frequencies required.

The reason I posted it, was because it represents a limitation of the expanded site plan and control channels being used on the Motorola ASTRO25 platform. Does this mean that the XTS5000 and XTS2500, as well as XTL5000s etc will now be phased out in favour of APX series gear? Will the ASTRO25 gear still be used - but with limited access to the new sites..?

I haven't really had much exposure to Tait equipment, so I can't comment. If someone wants to send me one I'd be more than happy to have a look at how they're implemented.

8-)
