Dead frequency on GPT
Dead frequency on GPT
While using Unitrunker in conjuction with the Uniden 780 scanner (and discrim tap feed coming from the Uniden 796d) I have noticed that frequency GPT frequency 419.1625 appears to be dead, despite the control channel sending traffic there (which is why i noticed it in the first place). The frequency is correctly entered on the 780 with the "M" designator for trunking, there is no 60 sec marker signal on the frequency and i can hear traffic on the GPT listed frequencies above and below this one. Just deadly silence on this frequency when there is suppose to be a transmission.

Re: Dead frequency on GPT
Not sure if it is the scanner - it is not tracking off the control channel on the 780 scanner when a talkgroup on hold goes to that frequency
I had the scanner sit on that frequency (with the trunk side of it switched off - i should hear the voice irregardless and still nothing - it is booming in above and below
The only other thing I can think is that the 780 electronics is becoming defective.
I am listening off a second scanner (the 796 .... I have taken it off the discrim feed) and still no 60 sec marker .... weird

Re: Dead frequency on GPT
Grant,
I think you will find that this frequency is not in use at GPT or any GRN site.

Re: Dead frequency on GPT
Whoops - just found my mistake when i used an excel spreadsheet
I had LCN 664 as 419.1625 whereas in fact it is 419.1250
Sorry to waste your time Mal

PS The license for 419.1625 still exists on the acma database at GPT and I think Mt Murray. Chullora has two 413Mhz frequencies on the ACMA which are not used either.... probably leftovers from the past

Re: Dead frequency on GPT
Now that I have everything correct for GPT I keep noticing the control channel alternating between the main one (416.1250Mhz) and the backup one (416.875) ... it has happened several times today (even as I type it has happened again) and on a number of occasions lately.

Re: Dead frequency on GPT
At this current time GPT is alternating control channels between 416.1250Mhz and 416.875Mhz every 20mins.

Actually looks like 1 hr on 416.125 then it alternates to 416.875Mhz for a brief period
It was on 416.125 between 1.10pm and 2.10pm then took off to 416.875 at 2.10pm today for ten mins before returning at 2.20pm to 416.125Mhz (Mon 29/12/08)
