Miranda GRN ????
Does anyone know what has happened to the Miranda GRN Site?
A lot of construction work at the Miranda Westfields, antennas have moved etc, and received GRN signal strengths right nearby to Westfields are not what would be expected close to the site.
Site has moved?

Re: Miranda GRN ????
ACMA web site is still showing it in the sane location, but that's not always accurate as we know.

I was monitoring it 2 days ago while in Kirawee. Still up and running.

Thanks Mike,
I know it is on air, but the signal strength (on the CC) at Westfields itself is not what you would expect if you were literally standing on the antenna.
A challeng perhaps? Anyone with DF skills want to verify where Miranda's RF is coming from? From the distant places (5 locations in roughly circular pattern say at least 10kn away from site) I have tried it still is around Miranda / Sutherland so COULD really be at Miranda but as I have said the on site signal strength does not add up.

Just noticed I can now monitor the Miranda site on a portable scanner at home. I could barely receive it before.
I'm thinking they may have moved it to the comms tower on Dudly Street KIRRAWEE.

No licence then? Does not appear to have GRN frequencies listed at Dudly St, which I think is the Ausgrid Sub Station.Mike Alpha wrote:Just noticed I can now monitor the Miranda site on a portable scanner at home. I could barely receive it before.

Re: Miranda GRN ????
I can confirm the Miranda GRN site has moved to the Ausgrid tower in Dudley St Kirrawee.
Was down there today and underneath the tower, 418.525MHz was full strength on the VX-5R without an antenna connected. The signal dropped off rapidly as I drove away from the tower. No signal at all underneath the old Miranda site.
The Kirrawee tower is now covered in microwave dishes and has a UHF dipole array similar to those used at other GRN sites, possibly the 420MHz MDRS antenna. I wonder if they can use the same antenna for the GRN ???
It's quite a good site. I'm receiving "Miranda" GRN site now all over the south west and inner west areas.
