Russell, can you post what these ID's you have are ?

I'm interested because either PRO96Com is missing something or UT is showing false readings ?
I've got a couple of 5 digit RID's, but all (from what I've observed) display 'denied' when they try to connect.

Plenty of 6 digit users, but no confirmed 5 digit users.

Some of the 5 digit ones I've logged are likely 'quirks', but from the responses I've received regarding '12345' I'm pretty confident that a radio with that ID (legitimate or not) has been trying to connect.

The list is below. I lied it is not 50 or 60 but infact 90. You can see certain patterns in some numbers, others appear to be just random. I will others to make whatever conclusion they will.

Hi Rusty,

I have a theory to explain most of those... my suspicion is that whoever programmed the radio cocked up & used the old analog Smartzone ID. When you programmed the radios you dropped the first digit (the 7) and entered the last 5. ie. 58922 is actually analog trunk ID 758922.

Of course it isn't going to work...

Cheers

Richard,

Good theory, except for one thing. Would the 9600 baud P25 system even acknowledge the existence of the 3600 baud analogue radios / RID's? Just asking...

Sorry Rusty, I didn't explain it properly... the analog trunking ID has been used as the Astro trunking ID... so the radio is using the P25 system in P25, just the wrong ID. That mistake is made on the Clone Radio page where there is (from memory), Analog Trunk ID, MDC ID, Astro Trunk ID, Astro conventional ID. So the radio would be set up correctly for P25, just the wrong ID.

Cheers

Richard,

Okay now it makes sense.

Any radio ID between 1 and 16777211 (0xFFFFFB) inclusive is technically valid for an ASTRO 25 trunk system (according to CPS help) although that range can be restricted for any particular ASK and obviously on the system itself.

For some reason they (whoever 'they' were at the time) decided to use only seven-digit IDs on the GRN starting at 1000000, possibly to fit in with state by state RID allocations, although that hasn't been confirmed?

And of course exceptions to that rule have been made since its inception as well... ;)
