is this common ??

Post by Garry » Wed Feb 15, 2012 5:11 pm

one of the services on GRN that I mainly monitor is NSW Transport (TMC), this afternoon I saw a FRNSW tg pop up on a RTA tg, but with no audio. Does this happen often ??

FRNSW radio id pop up on a RTA tg? I haven't seen that, i know the NSWPF have a radio for that tg, ive also seen NPWS radio id affiliate to a RFS talkgroup recently.

Not possible... FRNSW radios don't have RTA talkgroups in them (and vice versa)...

i logged it off lambton at 14.46 and 30 secs,,, rid is 2010428 on 10702. I also sms'ed the screen shot to two members of this forum asking the same question. Another hobbyist in Newcastle also sent me a logging off Mt Sugarloaf with the same. I still have both screen shots on my phone if needed

simple answer, it's a dodgy radio that been programmed by someone without a clue.

My PRO96.com logs have RFS, SES, NSWFB, NSWAS RID's affiliating with talkgroups which they should not be from another service. logs show at least a couple radios each week that are obviously not right.

I doubt that it would have been done by error, more likely a dodgy programmer than a dodgy radio!

I would think it reasonable that NPWS radios (and NSF once they upgrade) would have RFS talkgroups and I know the old SES profile also had RFS channels (unsure about the new one), I've even heard RFS fire control centres talking on FRNSW channels but I can't see any reason for an RFS radio to need TMC talkgroups... who knows?

I have one as yet unidentified NSWRFS ID down the South Coast here that regularly flicks around the ACTRFS and ACT fireground talkgroups, I suspect it may be something to do with the Region South office in Batemans Bay as it always affiliates on that tower... Is it dodgy, maybe, maybe not... only time will tell I guess?

Hi all, Yeah there may be this going on, but dont forget there are certain SES radio's are allowed to affiliate to NSWAS TG's via the Community First Responder program. i see a couple of radio's affiliate here quite a bit.

cheers
