Found out the reason why the ferry skippers call out "leaving Mortlake" on Talkgroup 10902 (Channel 2).

Memorandum of understanding between Waterways, Sydney Ferries and Mortlake Punt crew dated 2003- in order to avoid collisions and delays.

Have been hearing this for a few weeks now. It sometimes pops up quite frequently, with a bit of a click and static. Never heard anyone actually speak on it yet!

Just having a look back at the NSWAS posts http://scansydney.com/board/viewtopic.p ... =380#p9050 and found an older document with some tones for the Non-GRN channels, they most likely now on a P25 channel, but something to keep an eye out for, unless someone can update with latest info.

3 TUNNEL 416.0625 151.4 (various rail tunnels)
5 PUTTY 414.6875 151.4
25 OLYMPC PK 415.0875 NONE
26 COM/CNTRL 467.6750 107.2
27 HELICPTR 467.6750 NONE

3 & 25 are definitely unchanged & I suspect the others are still analogue as well. 3 will be replaced by a trunking site at a date unknown...

Are you sure channel 3 is the rail tunnels? My understanding is that this freq is used only in the Lilyfield light rail tunnel.

Cheers,

Richard

wasn't 3 the Sydney Harbour Tunnel originally?
As far as I understood it the Ambos and Firies have always had six channels (1 control + 5 voice) available in the underground rail system - just a change from analogue to P25

In the peak hour I have noted on Unitrunker that they call every 15 mins and always the same radio id - like somebody gets off the boat and activates a radio on Mortlake wharf.

Ah ok, this was the list ACMA search spat out, so the (various rail tunnels) i posted is incorrect? And is now taken over by GRN site.

Sorry Matt, I must have got my facts wrong on Lilyfield... but I'm not sure if Ambos still have conventional bases in all of these locations. Could these now be GRN channels as they are licenced to Telco? The modulation shown is 10K1F9W... that isn't analogue FM but to my knowledge Ambos haven't rolled out P25 conventional bases...

Cheers,

Richard

Hi Grant,

They are part of the GRN so not just available to those agencies... many years ago there were some Tait bases, Smartbridges, & MCS2000 rolled out in Sydney Harbour Tunnel, Stadium Australia, Lilyfield, & Mt Poppong for Ambos & Firies but these have been or are going to be gradually upgraded to trunking or to some other P25 solution.

Cheers,

Richard
