NBN Towers

Post by freqwaves » Sat Jun 04, 2016 12:46 pm

I did not know about NBN Towers until a story came up in our local paper about residents in The Oaks opposing one due to it's height (40m) & health concerns from it's radiation.
Only 3km from this proposed site sits the following towers:
Telstra 3G 850MHz
Optus 2G 900MHz
3G 900MHz
3G 2100MHz
4G 700MHz
4G 1800MHz
4G 2300MHz
4G 2600MHz
Vodafone 3G 850MHz
3G 900MHz
3G 2100MHz
4G 1800MHz
Looking at a street view of the nominated road it's all rural country acerage. This town is also only a few kms west of Razorback which as we know is a big repeater site. NBN is not interested in mounting the infrastructure on existing towers in the area.
A bit of research shows they transmit in the 3.5Ghz (4G) range & provide NBN wireless broadband to rural areas were fibre is not available to be run to the premises. A flat panel antenna is mounted on the roof & connected to a modem inside the house. Installation is only done if certain signal strength is met.
