Xmas is always a good time for listening to the emergency services especially police.
By Christmas Day evening the booze has kicked in and the relatives let loose.
My best memory is of a guy who climbed onto the live 1500V DC railway overhead wiring (from the station roof ... dangerous to life if you don't jump onto it ) at Concord West and who had to be coaxed down by the Police Rescue Squad, who wouldn't go near him until the power was switched off.

PS For folk who are totally unaware Jesus was not born on December 25 .... my New Testament lecturer at Bible College alerted me to this .... the clue is "the shepherds are out with the sheep at night" which only happens in the springtime (ie lambing in March, April). Jesus was born at the same time of the year as when he died, roughly stated. Xmas Day on December 25 dates from about the 350's AD when the Roman Empire was slowly becoming christianised following Constantine's conversion. It set out to replace earlier "pagan" festivals eg Saturlina etc. A lot of our christmas traditions only date from the last couple of hundred years eg Xmas Cards started in the 1860's.

Yeah, Merry Christmas to all who are of such pursuasion and Happy Holidays to the others (yah gotta be politically correct nowadays)

I heard scrooge himself on the State Rail security talk group today. As all the transit officers wished each other a Merry Christmas, the operator called up saying, "can you all stop the Christmas Greetings, it's cluttering up the channel" - it went silent then. Bloody Heathen! :)

Sitting on the veranda, listening to the quiet GRN and all the rowdy kids with their new walkie talkies.
Wishing everyone a merry christmas from the outdoor shack!

I am fairly sure the Duty Commander would have been the authority behind that.
You can see the point of knocking it on the head.
Keeping the airwaves clear making sense, given the seriousness of some of the jobs ala campsie etc
