Knowing if a frequency has gone digital

Post by freqwaves » Tue Dec 24, 2013 4:21 pm

I have been checking the ACMA for frequencies & taking note of the emmission designator.
Frequencies still in analogue have the last 3 digits as F3E.
If a user has change to NXDN or Motorola Turbo will this designator change on their licence? I do notice it does change for users on P25 like Police or GRN assigned frequencies.
Frequencies in Digital seem to have F7E, F7D or F3D (data) as the last 3 digits in the emmission designator.

Thanks, John.

Not really, In my research of MotoTRBO, 99% of the frequencies listed on ACMA that are actually confirmed MotoTRBO/DMR are still listed as 10K1F3E.

Emission designators are an art form, not a science...

In other words, best way to tell is to tune the frequency with an analog radio and listen :)

Thanks Guys, I was trying not to add frequencies into my scanner which had already gone to digital protocols my scanner can't decipher.
Otherwise the lockout button gets used frequently!
