No, the ACMA finally came to their senses, after much input from Manufacturers and Users alike, and is introducing an 80 channel plan. See the last two pages of this document dated 23 Dec 2010.

The change was due to come into effect on 1st Jan 2011, however due to delays with the legislation, has been deferred till later in the year (March, April, May??).

The A/B plan was totally unworkable, and the ACMA should have realised that before they even proposed it.

Uniden's 77ch out now ,locked out new freq until final aproval. I bet it will just be a power cycle with key hold to unlock.

Now all they need to do is pass legislation that keeps the CB morons on a select number of channels, and it might actually become a useful communications tool again..

yeah that would be handy, and get rid of the bloody business users who are using uhfcb...

yeah but still there going to have a 16k0f3e modulation so its solving nothing. even better will be the fact that theyll have 25 or > watts so are we really solving anything? sheesh i hope so, sadly i think not.

I already have some guys in my local area running 25watt modified Icom & other brand radios.They talk on CH22 nearly every night.
Secondly,what UHFCB repeaters are still active in Sydney?They all seem to be turned off.

25 watt radios have been in use (illegally) on UHF CB for years. Nothing new. Oh, yes now the narrow band radios are useful, but where do you think heaps of UHF PRM-80s have ended up!
