LOL yeah right, Uniden Australia forgot about us...suddenly they come crawling back eh ;)
Mike,

Yes it is Uniden Australia.

Jaskel,

To say UA forgot about us etc is a little unfair. The Americans control the production etc of all Uniden products. They decided to end production of the 396 world wide. UA looked at the 396XT, but could get it a price that would make it competitive in Australia - why? Because the American control the price of Uniden products sold world wide too. They were not prepared to reduce the wholesale price to Australia so as to make it a viable product here - we are a small market afterall.

Without going into too much detail, while each Uniden agency is responsible for its own market, it is still answerable to the head office. And think about it, if you were in business, you would want to make a profit. You would not be in business to give products away, well Uniden is in the same situation.

And just to make things clear, yes I do consult to Uniden now and then.

Russ thanks for the info and the clarification - hopefully as I asked there will be a Firmware update which will brig it up to the US version of the 396T before it got disconued.

For whatever reason, after I send data to scanner in ARC96, the contents in the scanner remains untouched. I'm ready to throw this scanner against the wall LOL

Hopefully they will fix up the woeful RX in the 396 when they re release it. Why not the 996 too? Way better radio...

To be honest I would opt for the #96XT rather than the old#96T series. But as I stated above, cost to sale ratios are a consideration. And mother America may not allow it.

be nice if they did, i'd consider one then.
i dont mind my 996t, but love the features of the XT series that my mate(you know him Rusty) has.
it may be a deciding factor for some considering that the XT series has been out a while now.
cheers
