UHF antenna for Uniden 396

Post by Farsouthscanner » Fri Sep 20, 2013 6:49 pm

Hi all
Can someone recommend a UHF antenna for my Uniden 396 scanner. ideally it should have a SMA connector although I could use the SMA to BNC adapter.
I find I am really only listening to police, RFS and GRN when I am out and think a dedicated UHF antenna would boost reception a bit. I am not expecting miracles as the scanner is quite deaf but hope to get it a bit better.

My best advice is to use the SMA to BNC connector i used a cable straight to the SMA and ended up have to resolder the connection inside the scanner. as for the antenna i have found the dual band antennas work well on them as they are around the 435 mark for UHF
to many radios as 255 characters is not enough :)
