Icom IC-R20

I have had my Icom IC-R20 for 10 years now & always been impressed with it's reception on Airband.
Does anybody know what the equivalent of this in a base desktop model?

There isn't a direct equivalent for the IC-R20. The IC-R8500 is from the same era, but is more professionally oriented. Icom haven't really done a "consumer" desktop since the IC-R100.

Yes, the IC-R8500 is nice but looking at a few thousand dollars to buy.
Any other brand with equivalent airband receive quality?
