Clone 996 with ARC996 software

Hi all
I thought I would clone the scanner I have in my bedroom to makeit the same as the one in the lounge room.
To save unplugging the scanners and moving them I thought I could use theUSB cable I bought and the Butel ARC996 software to do a clone.
When I try to clone the scanner won't connect to the computer. I have tried the lowest baud rate onthe scanner and computer sothey matched. I have tried lowing the FIFO buffers all the way down. What else can I try?
I can load the control software part of the package and control the scanner and program it so its not an issue with the cable or computer, there must be some small thing I am missing.
