Here it is, it was a quick knock up video, but should show you how to do it. If you still can't get it after this, then i would guess there is an issue with your scanner.

Jaskel, it's only on the 396T handheld that you need to hold the function button? On the 996T you just need to push (and release) the main knob once and "F" will stay on the screen for a few seconds... but it doesn't flash?

Re: 996 and P25 audio.
OK Jaskel (and others having problems with this procedure), I think I've figured it out...
I've got 4 996T's sitting here in front of me and two of them will do this and the other two won't... the only difference between any of these scanners is that the two that won't go into this mode only have V1.00.06 firmware and the other two that work as described have V1.01.05 firmware!
On the older firmware I just get the P25 error rate (ERR:) and only the newer firmware allows me to adjust "P25 RES TIME" and "P25 REF GAIN"?
So, follow this link to JAFO's recent post and upgrade away!

Re: 996 and P25 audio.
Are you guys running the newest 996 firmware? I'm running V1.01.05 and I can set the GAIN and TIME just fine.
Re: 996 and P25 audio.
I am running 1.01.05 on mine and cant get into it!

Re: 996 and P25 audio.
Ohh kay then... next!
On one of my scanner's with the newer firmware, if I DON'T do the whole green/orange-flashy-thing (that is to say, just turn on the scanner normally) I just get the "ERR:" screen with [F]+Vol, but if I DO do the flashy-thing I get the "P25 RES TIME" screen...
All my scanners have the same programming (I loaded one after the other from the same program), I just checked and they all are using the same display mode ([HOLD] then [F]+[0])... I don't know what else it could be, apart from the firmware they are all identical?

Re: 996 and P25 audio.
Hmm... now I am confused?
I don't think it does have anything to do with the firmware version after all?
I don't know how I did it but I just got into the "P25 RES TIME" menu on one of my scanners with the older V1.00.06 firmware, but the other scanner with the old firmware refuses to go in there?
Also, I just tried getting into this screen on my 996XT's and I can't get them to display this menu either (and the XT's are only a few months old with V1.04.00 f/w)? BTW, you should see all the pretty colours you get when you fire up the XT with the [HOLD] button!
