Very cool, about time they combined GPS type touch screens with scanners.

Meh!

I think I'd rather program my scanner manually, can target things in the way I like and I'm sure there'd be plenty of things missing from Uniden's database.

Yeah but it's not Uniden's database, it's all based on info from the Radio Reference website...

It won't worry me anyway for two reasons, firstly I like to have my scanners programmed the way I have them, I can pick and choose how I want things grouped together and what to scan at home versus on the road and secondly, I VERY much doubt that we will even see them down under... Uniden Oz has all but given up on the Aussie scanner enthusiast.

I agree. Love this scanner, but I can't see Uniden Australia getting off their lazy arses and setting up a data base like this for Australia at all. Shame, as that is a great idea that scanner. Full touch screen and set up basics in 3 mins. Thats just awsome if you ask me.
I have not looked up the specs for this radio but I bet you can use software to customise the channels you scan. Would be strange if this was not the case, and you had to be stuck with data bases that they tell you to monitor.

Again. Great idea, but can't see anything like that coming out here.

This must be an up and coming model, as there is nothing out on the Uniden US website about this radio.

Yeah, it either hasn't officially been released yet or if it has it was only in the last day or so, I haven't seen the specs posted anywhere on any of the US forums yet.

Yes I just read the thread for it on RR. Not officially announced till 1st July and not released till September. Seems a new concept that's for sure. Again, shame Uniden Australia won't release them here, as it would need a good strong frequency data base which is accurate and maintained like the RR one. Would be a great scanner to get people into the hobby, as thats what it is designed to do.
And the fact it has USB is great. All I can say is about time.

It doesn't seem to support P25 though, that could be a bit of a downer.
