Wow. Now this to me is a tough question. Its a bit like how many sugars do you want in your coffee, or would you prefer tea. The answer is that there is no right way or wrong way. What ever works for you. It depends on some many things, like if you travel a lot, or monitor from one area mostly. Try a few different ways, and see which one works for you. What ever works, thats the way to do it. :D

For Control Channel Only scanning, I just have all know Control Channels under the one system - so all 40 odd Frequencies one after the other, seems to work OK for me travelling the country side which has covered about 40% of the GRN Coverage area.

You tried running the driver under XP SP3 Compatibility?

You mean Win7 Ultimate. As far as I know its in all win7 versions. Try that, see if it works. Which driver are you using? Have you tried a vista driver?? Most vista drivers work in win7 from my experience with out any hassles.
If not try a generic driver. Remove all the drivers for the cable and let Win7 install its own, see how that goes.

I run Win7 Ultimate x64. The following driver works great with the USB-1 cable.

Be sure in Device Manager that you have actually loaded the driver supplied by prolific - installation isn't the only necessary step if you have loaded other versions of the same driver.
