Hi all,
I recently bought a 396T and am pretty happy with it, but one issue I constantly have is; the scanner may sometimes select a site which is further away, hence having poor signal quality where a much closer site is available which is much better to listen to. Most of the time it selects the right site, but in some cases it won't. Is there a way to force a re-scan of all control channels? Usually I result to turning the scanner off then back on for it to re-scan, however if there's a button combination to do this, it'd be a lot easier!
Another quick one, but I doubt it's capable; is there a way to ID the site (e.g. the lower button on the Motorola portables which give SITE XX and/or it's name)?
I've tried the manual, but it's just way too confusing... !
Thanks!

Re: Re-scanning GRN sites (UBCD396T)
there is no function like the site select on the motorola radios for this scanner.
The manual is a complete shit fight, i sold my ubcd396t a while ago.
only tip i've got to offer is if you want to program it with your computer forget the uniden software its complete garbage, purchase arc396 basic and that will do all you want

Try this
I have just done this from my place
hit scan then wait for no talkgroups to come up
now hit hold you should be getting a loud hissing sound and the SID3A0Dh-0048 (do this for your weaker site) will flash on the top line now hit L/O
now hit scan
to unlock press hold again when no talkgroups come on then use the dial to find the freq you L/O
or
goto menu - program system -nswgrn mot-set freq - (slow)
or (the way I like)
while on hold press func and 7- use dial to go to grn -then press E find system frequency- then press E- use the Dial to find the L/O channel- then press enter -then hit L/O to unlock
Doing this on the 996t you press L/O it will temporary l/o to reset turn off then back on

Re: Re-scanning GRN sites (UBCD396T)
another way is to program your stronger site on a separate quick key
eg
quick key 1 - GPT site 48
quick key 2 - Belrose site 8
quick key 3 - GRN Sate wide = all control channels
