996P2 DMR upgrade
Just wondering if anyone has unlocked the DMR option on a 996P2? I'm reading that it is basically a paid unlocking of an already installed feature.
And once done, which software will program the scanner with the DMR option?

Re: 996P2 DMR upgrade
correct. I upgraded my unit a while ago. You purchase an unlock code unique to the hardware. Once entered it enables DMR. You do need to ensure you are running the applicable FW version (can't remember the version, check google) before you can unlock.
I hope that helps.

Basically you purchase an unlock code linked to the serial number of the unit - you will need to enter the serial number of the unit during registration/ordering. You will also need firmware version 1.07.06 or newer (current version is 1.07.09). http://info.uniden.com/twiki/bin/view/U ... wareUpdate
FreeScan 2.19 (beta - untested) will program DMR but does appear to have a bug when programming - it doesn't actually skip unselected systems but rather just reprograms the last selected system otherwise it works well. It's available on the FreeScan forum (not the website) http://scannow.org/forum/index.php/topic,1379.0.html
Hope this helps!

Re: 996P2 DMR upgrade
I've updated a 996P2's firmware and now trying to buy the DMR upgrade. Although Uniden USA's payment page allows for "other" countries, it still wants a valid zipcode for my Australian Visa card It won't accept an Australian state or postcode.
Any simple workarounds??

It won't (or has not in the past) accept an overseas credit card even if you have a valid zip code. The only way is to have a credit card issued by an American bank.Mike Alpha wrote:I've updated a 996P2's firmware and now trying to buy the DMR upgrade. It will work with a American Express card issued by an Australian bank, That's how I've done it in the past.

I understand Australians can purchase the upgrades through US scanner retailers instead of through Uniden America directly.

That's right Scotty. I've ordered the upgrade from Scannermaster. At a much higher price I might add!!Scotty wrote:I understand Australians can purchase the upgrades through US scanner retailers instead of through Uniden America directly.
