I've not tried with the newer stuff but I know it couldn't be done with the old 396/996 models, I tried to make a US version think it was an Aussie version (or was it the other way around) to use a remote head, but they came up as two different model numbers entirely and so wouldn't let the wrong firmware be installed.

For a start the model is a BCD536HP not a UBCD536PT, note the difference. The crossing over of firmware will NOT work. Do not attempt it as you may not like the result. Apart from some minor differences, mainly 800 MHz reception there is little reason to change from one to the other. If however you desperately want and Australian version, I would suggest selling the 536HP and purchasing a 536PT.

I picked up a UBCD536PT a few months back and only now investigating one of the features i had hoped to use on the unit, Wifi connection & the Uniden app.
Only to read that the oz model doesn't support the wifi unit that comes with the US model ?
Can anyone confirm this or have tested similar ?
Being able to tinker with and listen to the radio on my iphone while away from the office but in range of wifi is extremely appealing & disappointing if not the case.
So much so i could possibly sell this unit (that i bought from a local supplier!), to order another from the USA.

The aussie model doesn't support WIFI. I actually bought the dongle, connected it up but the scanner won't detect or show any menu items to configure it.
I'm guessing the feature is disabled or removed from the aussie firmware.

Thanks for the confirmation, very disappointing.

I’ve got both radios and while the Wifi is a nice addition, not having it isn’t a deal breaker for me. It’s good as you can stream the audio off it to whatever or wherever you like. The in house Siren software for mobile devices is problematic and hasn’t been updated in ages.
