The delay is mainly down to sorting out the payment procedure and key assignment.

Not too many more sleeps.

Good to hear Russell, It may have taken awhile but Uniden Australia have come to the party, plus hopefully they have ironed out the issues that beset the US Firmware.

To be frank Frank, the main problem with the US model is usually the operator. For a lot of users, getting their heads around the various types of DMR systems, Conventional, Hytera Pseudo Trunk, Capacity Plus, Connect Plus and now Capacity Max is a challenge. When you then factor in the concept of Logic Channel Numbering (LCN) their heads just about explode. Working with DMR as I do now, I can understand that. It can be a beast if things are not done right. There is a lot of little boxes that have to be ticked (or unticked as the case maybe) for it to work. For the scanner user, miss enter a Colour Code or Time Slot and things will not behave as expected. Restricted Access to System (RAS) can also cause some angst.

On top of that you have to remember the scanner is a parasitic receiver, is it not part of a system and therefore cannot emulate in toto a radio that is.

Hats off to Uniden AU. One would imagine the demand for x36PT will increase when DMR and NXDN are available. I, for one, didn’t think they would come to the party - ever.

Hopefully the upgrade is reasonably priced, maybe they can throw the DMR in for free :) The $50 mark would be nice, but if it follows the US pricing then $70-$80 is likely more ballpark.

Just purchased the DMR key from the Uniden site, upgraded the 536PT, after a quick test DMR audio is sounding ok

Too right R - look at those who have been programming P25 Phase II systems ax X2 TDMA's and then complaining 'it doesn't work, my unit is faulty'.

Uniden releasing DMR upgrade for 436/536

$85.00 for DMR and $75.00 for NXDN... hmm. A little above the US pricing, which is a pity.

What’s more intriguing is that there is also an upgrade option for a ‘USD100’ model. Would it be reasonable to assume the SDS100 will be making an appearance in AU market soon?
