Uniden releasing DMR upgrade for 436/536
Re: Uniden releasing DMR upgrade for 436/536
Latest information suggests the Whistler TRX1 and TRX now shipping from US retail stores in August 2016
TRX1 recommended retail price around $875 (US $650) plus airfreight shipping cost to Australia
TRX2 recommended retail price around $985 (US $730) plus airfreight shipping cost to Australia
However suppliers like Universal Radio are discounting both radios by $100 US

Re: Uniden releasing DMR upgrade for 436/536
The Whistler TRX1 and TRX2 have been shipped in the last couple of weeks, with a number of bugs being identified and corrected in firmware updates.
Feedback on Radioreference suggests the current status of the new digital radios re DMR
The TRX tells you the Color Code, Slot #, Talkgroup and Radio ID.
The Unidens will tell you in addition to that: System Type, Network ID and Site ID.
Somebody has already asked the question about types of DMR trunking - do the new scanners tells you whether it is Cap+, Con+ or Tier III trunking? (Answer: No)
I think i will wait a while. DSDPlus software is still a great alternative

Yes DSDplus is a great bit of software and it makes a pretty good trunking scanner, but it is a bit hard to take portable .
Saying that i am working on a portable DSDPlus with 2 x sdr set up to take to Bathurst this year for the supercars.
Regards
Kev

Re: Uniden releasing DMR upgrade for 436/536
Has anyone successfully updated their australian 436/536 for DMR?
Re: Uniden releasing DMR upgrade for 436/536
The Australian DMR update isn't available yet - I believe that it will be available within the next 6 months and it will be a paid upgrade similar to the USDrClaw wrote:Has anyone successfully updated their australian 436/536 for DMR?

NXDN Support Comes to the BCD436HP and BCD536HP
The long-awaited upgrade to support scanning NXDN digital systems is now available for the BCD436HP and BCD536HP scanners from Uniden. This upgrade allows you to program these scanners to trunk track NXDN 4800 and NXDN 9600 systems, as well as NXDN Single-Channel Trunking and Icom’s IDAS™ trunking. Also, in conventional mode, this upgrade allows you to select the RAN and Area for NXDN transmissions
To get the upgrade, first update your scanner to the latest firmware version (see BCD436HP Firmware Update or BCD536HP Firmware Update). Then, go to http://my.uniden.com to purchase the upgrade key. You will need your scanner’s Electronic Serial Number (ESN) and checksum to purchase the upgrade. These can be retrieved using your scanner’s menu (MENU –> Settings –> See Scanner Information –> Firmware Version).
Note that the Sentinel software has not been updated, yet, to support these new features. All programming for NXDN needs to be done using the scanner’s menu system. We recommend you create a new Favorites List for NXDN systems. When you update your scanner using Sentinel, take care not to erase that Favorites List.
Upon release, the price for this upgrade will be $30. Once Sentinel has been updated to provide NXDN support, the price will increase to $60.

Re: Uniden releasing DMR upgrade for 436/536
Perhaps the upgrade is not too far away for the PT versions of the 436/536 .
I have just performed an upgrade (through Sentinel) on a 536PT and it is now showing the upgrade menu options...

Re: Uniden releasing DMR upgrade for 436/536
Correct - apparently the Firmware Upgrade was released a couple of days ago (I did mine Yesterday on the 436) but the ability to purchase Keys is not available as I believe it is still in the testing phase
