Uniden USB cable with Windows 8

Post by Farsouthscanner » Sat Aug 18, 2012 5:13 pm

Hi all
Just a bit of warning or if someone can help me it would be good.
I just installed Windows 8 Pro 64bit on my desktop machine that I run Unitrunker on.
The problem is that the Uniden USB cable that I use doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows 8. It has worked for Win 8 previews but not the finial version.
On the Prolific website it says that some chipsets for the cable give a code 10 in device manager, this is what mine does.

I tried to intall the drivers that I used with previous versions but Windnows says the device already has the latest drivers. These must have got downloaded for Windows Update like it says in the link.
Has anyone got this cable working with Windows 8 RTM or is there a newer cable version out that is compatible?
Thanks for any help.
Mark

Just for everyones info.
I purchased one of these

It was installed by Windows 8 within seconds and works perfectly with no settings changed.
I used the Uniden serial cable that came with the scanner together with the above cable.
