NRMA Battery vans

Post by freqwaves » Mon Mar 07, 2011 1:16 pm

I was at the traffic lights next to one of those NRMA Roadside battery vans & noticed they have a small GPS aerial & what looks like a small 800mhz RFI aerial mounted on the bonnet lip.Does anybody know if they might be using 800mhz Moto trunking or it's being used as a mobile phone aerial?

Thanks
John.

Could even be GPS tracking and automatic reporting via NextG etc.

I even think that the dispatch is now done via mobile phone technology / data screen.

Next time I have an NRMA attendance I will ask :-)

I was heading to work this morning when I saw a NRMA van. The driver was sobbing uncontrollably and looked very miserable. I thought to myself ‘that guy’s heading for a breakdown’.

Im pretty sure their mdts run off a mobile data connection by the look of their antennas.

Yeah, they have MDT's, and the ones at an event on Sunday (for a parade) were using handhelf uhf cb's.

thats actually true, I had cause to call NRMA for my car one day...
The person that turns up told me it was the starter motor so i need to take it to an auto electrician...

I take it to the auto electrician and he tested my car and said it was the battery that was playing up, not the starter motor...
