492.3750 Coda Audio Services - ARIA Awards Opera House

Post by cartman » Sun Nov 07, 2010 12:42 pm

Hearing this somewhat scratchy but audible 1 watt transmission into Blacktown by Coda Audio Services from The Domain area on 492.3750 Mhz (No ctcss)
Suspect this is the TV production associated with the 2010 ARIA awards at the Sydney Opera House
Have heard "ARIA" refererred to and what clearly appears to be a tv production crew working out their schedule for the evening, including count-out and count-ins from commercial breaks + refer to "heliocopter shots" to lead in from each break
Two very posh speaking females controlling the whole show on the audio
They seem to be doing a dummy run for the main event 6pm - 10pm

PS I can see part of the Harbour Bridge through the trees (thru binoculars) from my place at Blacktown so it doesn't suprise me I can hear such a low powered transmission from over 30km. Should boom into folk around the lower Nth Shore. Maybe Vertel frequency 490.750 is associated with this production or perhaps a Security rental frequency for the night. The carrier is still there about midday.

OK John - 492.3750 might be a australia-wide frequency if that is the case
Global would be working for Fremantle Media who are producing the ARIA's

From a quick listen around, 800Mhz GPT Analog Commercial trunking is being used for event mangement (the rental talkgroups around 5088)
Also hearing event related commentary on 472.2750Mhz and another Global TV production frequency on 485.425 Mhz
