Sydney Buses
Sydney Buses
Does anyone know how the Sydney Buses radio network is arranged.
I managed to find the following frequencies from the ACMA registry, but I'm not sure which of these frequencies are assigned to which parts of the network.
480.3750 Sydney Buses - Greenacre
485.5750
480.4000 Sydney Buses - Sydney Tower
485.6000
480.4250 Sydney Buses - Kingsgrove
485.6250
480.5250 Sydney Buses - Governer Philip Tower
485.7250
480.7000 Sydney Buses - Sydney Tower
485.9000
480.7250 Sydney Buses - Bondi Junction
485.9250
481.0000 Sydney Buses - Sydney Tower
486.2000
481.0250 Sydney Buses - North Seaforth
486.2250
481.2750 Sydney Buses - Mona Vale
486.4750
481.3000 Sydney Buses - Sydney Tower
486.5000
I'm a bit of a rookie when it comes to the scanning, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
BobbyD

Re: Sydney Buses
Was scanning thtough 470Mhz yesterday and found what appears to be the STA "Sydney Explorer" bus net
470.9500 118.8 ctcss Vertel Rental frequency - Tx Sydney Tower
Reference was made to the "Sydney explorer" red bus and also "Bondi explorer"
Suspect that the free "555" bus that runs around the CBD is also here
There is frequent discussion about CBD traffic flow especially "ED" (eastern distributor)

Re: Sydney Buses
Thanks, will add it in. The busses are usually more reliable then RTATMC on the GRN. Just have to try ignore all the calls for faulty busses.
Re: Sydney Buses
have you tried resetting the bus
if you are after traffic scan the back channel of the ATN (aus traffic network) off aap? building 800mhz trunking 55792

Re: Sydney Buses
yeah i used to listen to that but my scanner has issues with the changing of the control channel for some reason. i put all the control channels in but instead of doing its job it sits on the control channel all noise but displays the tgid's being used. (DTS96) so i stopped using it was rather annoying.

Re: Sydney Buses
Which begs the question, will the buses migrate to GRN when it is P25 or remain on PMR?matthewn1983 wrote:Thanks, will add it in. The busses are usually more reliable then RTATMC on the GRN. Just have to try ignore all the calls for faulty busses.
Seems somewhat unusual that the buses are able to remain PMR when 1. most other agencies are being pushed to GRN and 2. the GRN covers most, if not all the bus routes and T Lane right of way.

Hello BobbyD
This is what I believe Sydney Buses run... although this might of changed when they went to the PRM9xxx series of radios (somebody on the forum may be able to confirm). The radios are programmed with 4 channels, one for each 'operational area' namely North/North West, East and South/South West + Inspectors (State Transit Officers - those who check tickets). Each 'channel' runs a voting system with multiple repeaters. They use CTCSS 107.2Hz and 5-tone Selcall so each bus can be identified and/or called. They also utlise group selcalls for broadcast messages such as traffic conditions.
Ch 1 North
01 Syd Tower 486.2000
01 Seaforth 486.2250
01 Carlingford 486.4750
01 Carlingford 485.6250
Ch 2 East
02 Syd Tower 485.9000
02 Bondi Junct 485.9250
02 Bilgola 486.1750
Ch 3 South West
03 Belmore/Green Acre 485.5750
03 Syd Tower 485.6000
Ch 5 Inspectors
05 Syd Tower 486.5000
Hope that helps.
Michael
