The Maritime Cross Platform Systems Program Office (MCPSPO) is undertaking a tender and procurement activity on behalf of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).
The tender and procurement activity is to provide replacement of handheld radio capability for the RAN.
The current Ultra High Frequency (UHF) capability is fleet wide with over 2000 radios required to be replaced.
The primary role of these radios is to support inter-ship and intra-ship communications during damage control evolutions (floods, toxic hazards and firefighting).
The radios must also support the following secondary tasks:
a) Boarding Parties;
b) Force Protection;
c) Medical Emergencies;
d) Inter-Ship Communications;
e) Whole of Ship Evolutions (intra-ship communications); and
f) Steaming Party.
