A lot of npws information became known several years ago when they were tendering for comms companies to maintain their regional vhf 78mhz radio networks - the information was available to the general public on their website. The radio network was shown as a series of schematic diagrams

Starting to see a fair bit of use on the new 160mhz band from NPWS, couple of sites have become active in the last 2 days.
162.40000 241.8 - 'wollongong base'
162.32500 241.8 - garrawarra
162.35000 241.8 -

I was just wondering if there might be an ulterior motive for the move to the higher band, or at least a convenient side effect...

Moving to this band allows NPWS to make use of dual-band radios (like the Motorola APX7000/7500), allowing them to have both their own VHF network and the NSWGRN in the one radio.

Not much low band stuff out there these days. The change to VHF Mid would be ideal to talk on RFS fireground ?

I am getting them on 163.4375, CTCSS of 241.8 from Mumbulla mountain near Bega
Edit: also hearing them on 163.925 with the same CTCSS tone from Mumbulla. The two channels aren't linked though.

I've got a list from circa 2008, but it only has 70/80MHz (low) channels, not the 160/170MHz (mid) channels that are showing up. If you think it may help I'll post the info here.

EDIT:

Actually, no point me posting - virtually the same info is on RR: http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?aid=3215

Appears the low band net is gone, replaced with the mid band net: http://www.acma.gov.au/webwr/_assets/ma ... ritage.pdf
