CHP 44Mhz history

Post by kevnerd486 » Sun Jan 31, 2021 10:26 am

Hi all,
Went down a internet rabbit hole the other day and stumbled across this page about the History of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) 44Mhz radio system.

http://www.wb6nvh.com/index.htm

I have always been fascinated by this system and especially because of its susceptibility to propagation. I have scanned it on many trips to California over the years, and i bet the signasl must of made it to Australia as the USA has been worked from Australia on 6M (50Mhz) ham band.

Anyway I just thought it was a really great page if you are interested in early mobile radio.

Regards

Kev
