All the EOI says is that the two (currently separate) networks will be maintained under one "master" contract.

Re: NSW P25 GRN - Site Listing (current)
Can't say for the P25 system but certainly for the old Analogue SmartZone, the Alt CC (nominally Ch 4 on all sites) was only ever allocated if all other voice channels were in use, hence keeping the Alt CC ready for use as much as possible. It would make sense that this convention has carried into P...

Re: Future of Motorola Zeon (TETRA) Network
Internally there is a rough time frame but not released to customers. I understand that the 4G solution has been tested. That's about all I can say.Wonky wrote:Interesting ST, is there a proposed time line for Fleetcomms to get shut down?

Re: Future of Motorola Zeon (TETRA) Network
Stand by for the current Telstra Fleetcoms to perhaps end up on 4G LTE Radio.

Re: RFS The Hills district going GRN
Motorola Vote Network PMR??????? The NSW GRN was designed and building commenced prior to the Jan 94 Bush Fires. The system was called Motorola SmartZone Trunking (not PMR) and was APCO P25 compliant, and it certainly wasn't a vote PMR network. Built by Telstra to NSW Government specifications, it w...

Mostly missing the receiver pre-amps which have been "re-purposed".

Re: Ambulance radio SNAFU!
Sounds like the Tait compatibility wasn't tested well before issue. Reminds me of the EF Johnson radios brought in by Benelec for analogue GRN way back. They sort of worked. Apparently many settings didn't translate well from EF Johnson world to Motorola world.

Re: AFP - Tender for Radio Upgrade
I don't think there will be a migration to DMR, NXDN etc.cartman wrote:Does that mean Fleetcoms MPT1327 gets killed off?.... that would free up a truckload of spectrum on VHF and UHF, or is like the others, transitioning from MPT1327 to DMR?

Re: AFP - Tender for Radio Upgrade
I understand that Telstra is developing PTTOC capability, it has been trialled in the past, and a new development may be the change of what is now known as Fleetcoms to PTTOC / 4G in the medium term.

Re: NSW P25 GRN - Site Listing (current)
I remember when the DR NOCC site was originally chosen, we evaluated that it wasn't in a choice spot for RF linking, or indeed hosting its own site. Having a short link to the high point seems to prove this.
