I use a few of them, as Matt said you can't expect huge gain.
I have been staying with the old style elevated feed CD9X series with either the 1/4 wave or phase master depending on the application.
If you don't need the frequency coverage I wouldn't use one.

Re: ARRL Handbook
John,
If there are no takers on here that want it for themselves I will take it to give to my first year apprentice if that's ok.

Re: Fire threat - Tuesday
Astro_boy Very true, and still a good one to keep in the list, however compared to the "old" State Ops Strat Net still very quiet. The old "Strat Net" use to have every district report every fire via radio along with the number of units committed to the job to state ops, weather forecasts read daily...

Mike,
P241 is as Matt has it above part of the Blue Mtns Vote and ACMA is correct it is at Horsley Park.
Horsley looks back into the lower Mountains and the escarpment quite well.
Many years ago it was State Ops, prior to being re-farmed to Blue Mtns

Re: National Parks & Wildlife
Richard, we are getting a little off topic here but I can fill in a few more gaps for the Blue Mountains system Mt Tomah, Narrowneck, Shooters Hill (Oberon) Bocoble (Mudgee), Coricudgy (Rylstone) and Coolah Tops are all normally linked together, however the system can (or used to be) able to be spli...

Re: National Parks & Wildlife
Richard, That there is but they are on a different network to the 78.775 that John is hearing from Narrow Neck. I'm not sure what area's / parks they cover. I haven't had the time (I can't hear those sites from home) to work out what is linked where outside of the Blue Mountains system, do you know ...
