Speaking of NZ, I’m listening to a Radio NZ National broadcast tonight on 9700 Hz which is supposedly targeted to the Solomon Islands according to their website www.radionz.co.nz/international/listen. I’m very impressed by the Icom R30.

Thanks Matt. I’ve spent a number of years listening to only trunked systems and I’m enjoying expanding this hobby into HF/SW/MW listening too. I'm new to HF/SW/MW listening but I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I just started walking my way through the commercial AM broadcast range tonight and discovered that I can hear Brisbane's ABC 612! It was quite noisy (and faded periodically) on my R30 with stock antenna, but it was definitely there.
