Re: RFS going P25 + new paging system

South Coast would be a very different challenge... the GRN was never designed to cover west of the escarpment so I can't imagine the RFS accepting the current GRN coverage as equivalent to what existing PMR can provide. On the coastal strip there is no issue that GRN would cover it. There are still ...

Re: Armidale Dumaresq Council P25 VHF System

Not getting into that debate news... there are well known pros & cons for both. P25 can be built quite cheaply & the hardware will most likely last them much longer. In terms of the capacity you may be right (well, you are) but it may not have been a user requirement. Have you also considered whethe...

Well they have done it pretty cheaply... look at the console to network interface.

Re: Baulkham Hills RFS District

Probably macadamias.

The cost is not much but they may have had their reasons not to link them. As I don't know I'm not going to hazard a guess why, but the cost is not an issue. The equipment is readily available & as more networks go full P25 many bridges are getting retired.

Scotty,

A bucketload of money? It can be done easily and for peanuts... but the chances are that they don't want to do that.

Re: RID: 12345

Sorry Rusty, I didn't explain it properly... the analog trunking ID has been used as the Astro trunking ID... so the radio is using the P25 system in P25, just the wrong ID. That mistake is made on the Clone Radio page where there is (from memory), Analog Trunk ID, MDC ID, Astro Trunk ID, Astro conv...

Re: RID: 12345

Hi Rusty, I have a theory to explain most of those... my suspicion is that whoever programmed the radio cocked up & used the old analog Smartzone ID. When you programmed the radios you dropped the first digit (the 7) and entered the last 5. ie. 58922 is actually analog trunk ID 758922. Of course it ...
