isolating the DC is no big deal. Most TV splitters have 'DC pass' and 'DC block ports'. However another issue may be that if the MATV system uses and antenna mast head amp as most of these are band limited to TV band frequencies, and attenuate out of band signals to avoid overloading the amp. digital TV does not "just" operate around 700MHz (UHF). The allocation varies by region. eg in Sydney the primary TX for all commercial networks is still VHF.
Check the allocation for your area before ditching the old coat hanger for a UHF only version.
