Re: UK seeks to replace TETRA with LTE as early as 2016
P25 will dominate in NSW for many years to come. Simple. Finally somebody talking reality! P25 is here to stay for a long time. I could have sworn this thread was about TETRA in the UK. The reality there is completely different... And there in lies the problem... people trying to predict what is be...

Re: UK seeks to replace TETRA with LTE as early as 2016
My comments are not directed at any specific maker of hardware but features sets. UK are very much wanting to be the leader here and not get 'burnt' with yesterdays thinking. As this is a public forum I won't comment any further apart from saying that any reputable company or govt agency even consid...

Re: UK seeks to replace TETRA with LTE as early as 2016
I reckon the functionality of TETRA for the end user runs rings around other digital modes flavoured by ESO's such as trunked P25, so I don't see that as an issue. What functionality is that ? I have used both conventional and trunked TETRA gear for years and it's nothing special... Maybe this will...

Re: UK seeks to replace TETRA with LTE as early as 2016
I cant see the NSW Police force ever moving away from P25 in the foreseeable future, given the amount of investment in the metro and country areas. So sticking to the APX with LTE options would make sense. Somebody suggested to me that if and when the NSW Police move to P25 trunking only the contro...

Re: UK seeks to replace TETRA with LTE as early as 2016
This will be interesting and maybe a game changer for the incumbent suppliers of public safety radios, public safety running around using hardened iphones! or similar connected to mobile phone network with a high access to the network which assigns slots to public safety over normal users. We are se...

Re: Hands free radio in Police cars
~ Another option maybe VOX but it has it's issues as well. I doubt a VOX system could reliably pick out a voice over the top of sirens and all the other noise present during an urgent duty run? And even if one could, I'm sure there is quite a lot of conversation that you would NOT want to be broadc...

Re: Hands free radio in Police cars
Motorola have a radio and stearing wheel control option which odd are costs an arm and leg and you will need a us made police car to fit it into. I think it is the o9 option. the biggest issue I suspect is most cars are setup for bluetooth style setups but there is no ptt option and layouts very bet...
