Re: national parks and wildlife

If the RFS combined all of their repeater sited onto the NSWGRN then there would be no reason at all why rfs would need to have their own PMR system across the state. I know its a bit off topic and playing with fire but Dept of Health(at a hospital level) is another example of an agency using pmr w...

Re: national parks and wildlife

They weren't as of a couple of months ago when I had a meeting with grn guys at work, but that was one of their big users they wanted to move over. It wasn't the first time I've heard "parks radio" on Ambulance/RFS channels. I guess some of their guys are equipped just they're not using it as their...

Re: national parks and wildlife

Well according to http://www.grn.nsw.gov.au/about-the-nsw ... d-agencies - NPWS are on the GRN. But do you know of any NPWS TalkGroups? I don't.

Re: Automated Weather Stations in Sydney Metro?

Be careful with your sources of weather observations. A bad weather station install means inaccurate observations. Take BMCC Katoomba - their station is situated on the roof of the council chambers, right next to air conditioning ducts which reflect light at the station, causing the temperature to b...

Re: RFS PMR FREQUENICES

I can pickup about half those site link freqs from upstairs... this is why I need to get a discone on the roof.

Doesn't seem all that directional. Theres only one link that'd put me in a direct path but I'm picking up other links based on the ACMA info. I'll try matching them with their PMR labels...

Re: RFS PMR FREQUENICES

Fair enough ivahri. I just wasn't aware radio spectrum was recycled in such a fashion - but I am a radio noob. Anyone have information on how the 800mhz band fits in with this profile? Heres a list of some used in the Blue Mountains... 852.1625 852.2625 852.7625 852.9125 853.1437 853.3125 968.1625 9...

Re: national parks and wildlife

centralcoast - was a parks officer on the ground who discovered an injured bushwalker and required ambo assistance. I've observed NPWS use a CTCSS of 151.4hz on 70mhz chans 5 & 6 - can others confirm the CTCSS used on other chans? Also I've observed NPWS have a relay network on 70mhz, 160mhz & 400mh...

Its also pretty interesting the RFS use portions of the spectrum allocated to GRN and NSW Ambulance...

Whats this about zones? Nobody would happen to have a list of zones and what channels are in them?
