Re: national parks and wildlife
Heard the frequency 125.45 MHz mentioned today on either 05 or 53 - believe it was park air 2 talking to park air 3. They called it "National Parks Numbers" I later heard it mentioned again on RFS State OPs as "National Parks air band" Today I've also heard park air 2, 3, 5 & firebird 245 & 271 on t...

Re: ADS-B
Hmm, so apparently nobody here uses it. Thought I'd fill you all in on what I've discovered. ACARS seems to be whats primarily in use. Apparently ACARS is transmitted on 131.55 MHz and 131.45 MHz - however I've not received anything on these freqs. However, there are some ACARS generated maps on the...

Re: NPWS TG's ?
Could be RFS TGs too... I often hear RFS on NPWS PMR. Callsigns like "Fire comm" and "Oberon 1" give it away.
I've still not heard jack on P25 GRN

Re: GRN Control Channels
But I’m confused as to what CC’s should be in this list. The RadioReference website lists 32 GRN CC’s (which it states must be in order), but it seems that some GRN sites use CC’s which are not on this list. While radio reference is a very good site - don't use lists from the Internet as they are o...

Re: Live Feed GRN
Not too shabby! Although its a shame like myself you don't have the USB cable to send the channel label in the ID3 tag. Another feature of Icecast you may not be aware of is "relaying". Ever considered running icecast locally, on your own computer, and have the remote/public server connect to you an...

Re: national parks and wildlife
Radio dying a slow death eh? More specifically for commerical orgs. Why pay thousands of dollars per year on a radio license and about a grand per radio handset when there are significantly cheaper options? Especially when you can replace your existing radio equipment for approximately the annual u...

Re: national parks and wildlife
Don't take my word that trunking is more efficient I don't need to take your word for it - I know it is more efficient than PMR. I won't argue that the RFS don't belong on the GRN because I know they probably do! I just can't see any problems with the existing RFS PMR network that'd make this any k...

Well I changed my mind on not publishing my stream on forum sites... so here it is http://fastdns.ca:8000/stream1.mp3.m3u http://fastdns.ca:8000/stream1.ogg.m3u If I had the USB cable I could let you all know what its tuning to, but it really isn't that hard to guess. If anyone wants Icecast hosting...

Re: national parks and wildlife
Trunking is far more spectrum "efficient" than PMR because you need to consider how much use agencies make of each channel. The NSWFB and RFS PMRs can go quiet for extremely long periods when there aren't fires. Duty cycle has little to do with anything when you're talking about installing new repe...
