Taxi IDs

Post by criten » Sat Jul 24, 2010 7:24 pm

Just wondering if anyone could help me identify this sound. My goal is to decode these tones.

Its from my local taxi company.

These tones are always appended to transmissions from their cabs.

I'm told it transmits the car ID number. They have a unit of some sorts in their cabs which is attached to the radio. I'm also told they transmit various status codes that indicate what they're up to.

Sounds like Motorola MODAT.

Given this is "scanSydney" if you posted the frequency and its location it might be nice....

77.7375MHz CTCSS 123Hz Katoomba

I was thinking it was MODAT... now to find a decoder.

Possibly a proprietary format from Raywood Communications equipment, which is fairly popular in the Taxi Industry.
