Sentinel for UBCDx36 and USDS

Post by pks » Wed Jan 01, 2020 10:16 pm

There's separate Sentinel for both UBCDx36 and USDS.

Does anyone know how to easily transfer from one Sentinel to another in bulk?

The only solution I have so far is to export each Favourite List and import one at a time.

In some versions of Sentinel (mainly the US ones) it is easy. You can use it to program both radios without conversion. In Australia export the FL as a HPE file. This is done is FILE, EXPORT TO HPE etc. In the other version import the HPE file. Again this is done in FILE Import from HPE etc.

Yep, and when you have 50-60 Favourites it’s a long tedious process!! But it works :-)

How do you change the name "Favourites 1" to another name in the Sentinel software?
I somehow was able to create a new folder called "Johns" but could not edit or change to a different name.

Thanks, John.

Easy as.
Click on to highight the "Favourites 1" name.
Hover mouse over the "a|e" icon on second row and it will display "Rename Favorites List".
Click on it and type in whatever name you want to call it.

After doing some quick file comparison, here is what I have discovered with f_list.cfg in FavoriteLists folder:

USDS:
From line 3 onwards, right after "F-List" is a tab character (0x09)

UBCDx36:
From line 3 onwards, right after "F-list' is a space then tab character (0x20 0x09)

So what I've done is copy FavoriteLists from UBCDx36 to USDS, make the necessary changes in f_list.cfg and viola. No need to export and import each and every FL.

Obviously, please make backup and try at your own risk. I haven't tried BCDx36HP yet.
