488.175MHz Sydney
488.175MHz Sydney
So for the first time in ages, I have picked up a scanner and had a bit of a play around.
After fiddling with the search function on my PRO-668, I am hearing, what appears to be people reversing trucks or similar. Lots of "keep coming, keep coming, whoa! whoa! WHOA!! stop it there! NIce.. one..."
A quick search on ACMA reveals nothing in NSW for this frequency - does anyone know what it is?
Cheers,
Matt

Matt,
That sort of transmission would more than likely be a crane at a construction site. As to who it is, cannot help there.

Could be an Australia Wide allocation or perhaps an Eastern States based Trucking Firm doing Heavy Haulage - though they would more likely use UHF CBcitabria wrote:So for the first time in ages, I have picked up a scanner and had a bit of a play around.

Re: 488.175MHz Sydney
There is nothing on that frequency with an Australia-wide allocation, just 7 other licences for WA, NT, Qld and South Australia.
It would not be the first time somebody is transmitting without a licence
There is a bus company on the NSW north coast who is currently transmitting on their old frequency without a licence for many months if not years
Hmm PRO668 - couldnt recall that one so i looked it up on youtube .... it can upgraded to DMR via whistler software by what i read

Re: 488.175MHz Sydney
Just heard them key up after about 3hrs of silence ... Sat 2.49pm 8/7/17
I am at Liverpool receiving it at full strength and i was on the scanner supplied aerial (as opposed to being hooked up to a outside aerial)
488.175 162.2 one of the users had a callsign of "330" and was talking about pickups and dropoffs. Appears to be a group tour operator possibly around the City and Eastern Suburbs

Re: 488.175MHz Sydney
They are running through a repeater, which has to be install in a site somewhere in Sydney.
Either way, regardless if its a QLD based company operating in a different area, they still must be licensed for the area they are currently operating in!

I have this listed as Hopkinsons Bus (488.1750 162.2Hz). Maybe they are doing rail replacement bus runs for Sydney Trains this weekend??
