Missionbeat now on GRN?
Missionbeat now on GRN?
Missionbeat use to be on the 490mhz LTR system off Centrepoint but what I was hearing on saturday sounded like Missionbeat on GRN.
They talked about helping a drunk homeless person down near the domain & were able to take care of him even before the police & Ambulance turned up.They also talked about getting the approval to have red flashing lights on their vehicle when the SES was talking to them as they said they had trouble getting authorisation.
This conversation was on 19801 which is a short term rental talkgroup.
My only other guess is this the St Johns Ambulance?
John.

I heard bits and pieces of this also at around 1800, got a little bit recorded. Callsigns were Mike Sierra 1(i think it was MS, or maybe just Sierra) and Ops 1. Possibly a trial over the weekend, the SLSA were trialing it over a few weekends last year but nothing come out of it.

Good luck to them trying to get approval for Red Flashing Lights... but keeping in mind you only need approval to use them you don't need approval to purchase them so i found out a couple of years ago when i was chasing something up for my old boss...freqwaves wrote:Missionbeat use to be on the 490mhz LTR system off Centrepoint but what I was hearing on saturday sounded like Missionbeat on GRN.

I hope its changed since then as i was always confused why would you buy red flashing lights if you had no intention of using them

Has this showed up on any city sites lately, or was it a one night only special?
edit: seen one of the same radio ids from that talkgroup appear on Site 109 around lunch time today.

Re: Missionbeat now on GRN?
I have it from a credible source that its not Missionbeat, another volunteer organisation that deals with the homeless. Currently on a Rental channel courtesy of the NSW Government until such time as they can raise enough funds to purchase their own gear. Word is that they will be encrypted, watch this space!
